What I'm wondering is, what style traffic light viewer do you have? The "guide" style, or the other one. And, do you like 'em.
I'm about to put the visor on my panel, and I know from when it was on the 1-Ton, you can't see anything!
Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 | Although I have never had one, I would think that you need it mounted down on the dash. If it's up around the visor it can't pick up the light from the traffic signal. There is a hole in my dash right behind the center of the windshield and my speculation is that is what might have been there some time. EDIT: chalk this post up to my misunderstanding that I thought you had one on the one ton.

I might not understand the matter raised by FGT regarding location of the viewer. The original viewers and the reproduction viewers that I have seen are installed on the dash, near/against the windshield. Both work fine and are conversation pieces. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 2,201 | The best jokes are the ones you have to explain. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Christopher, I'll be putting my visor on this winter too, I've seen a Prizm traffic light spotter in a '52, it was on the left side, up against the windshield. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | I put the "style 1" on my '38 simply because it's mountable using a windshield garnish molding screw through the base of the viewer. The other type has a stud mounting base. My traffic light viewer.

It works, and it is a conversation piece. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | Great! I have used both styles of traffic light viewers and found them to work about the same. Both viewers work the best at night or on overcast days. It is more difficult to see the traffic light on a bright day and when facing the sun. I am using the clam shell type now. It is mounted to the moulding screw as described above. In addition to being functional, viewers are fun and interesting to folks who always want to know what they are.

Took the visor off and still use the viewer. Some of the lights are directly overhead. It works great!
Good idea Brit , but my hood is "olskool" semi-black and has bout 100 louvers in it. HAGD | | |
