I have the column and shaft connected to the steering box. I want to remove the outer steering column cover to paint it and grease the inner bearings. Is there a snap ring holding it in, and if so how do you get to it to slide the cover off?

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,203 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,203 | The cover has a clamp down at the steering gear box. Loosen it and start twisting and pulling after removing the steering wheel. There is no snap ring or retainer, the steering wheel does that job.

I replaced the mast bearing and dropped the horn wire to the hole on the bottom after painting mine. I don't know if if there's enough clearance to pull up thru cab as I had no rear window or no cab on. Been to long ago to remember. Have fun and good luck
