I have one on my 51 Chevy with a 350, it was on it when I bought it. I have chased a skip or miss in this thing for a couple of days. I thought I found it when I found a bad plug wire but it still skips. It sounds like a steady and regular missfire. Will the Unilite ignition module cause it to skip or does it just go out all at once with no fire at all???? thanks!! Mitchell

If a plug wire was open it very likely has burned the dist cap. Take a hard look inside for carbon tracks. Kind of look like a jagged pencil mark. The plug could be fouled from not fireing.

Do I look with a magnifying glass or just with good light? If cracked, is that a special cap for the Unilite or does regular cap work? You willneed to get a cap and rotor for a Unilite, standard parts do not fit. Any mallory dealer can get them for you.
One more thing. From my own experience, if you have the one without the vacuum advance, give it a little more advance on the base timing. I found that mine was much happier with 15 degrees advance over the stock setting.
