| | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 74 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 74 | Where is my problem. I put a new speedometer cable on my 48 chev panel and in about 1 mile there was a loud screech and the cable was broke at the transmission just like the old one.
One other thing is I did not mark all the wires and I do not have a wire going to the battery from the generator to charge.

The wiring has nothing to do with the speedo cable, it is mechanically driven. Is your driven gear plastic or steel? Unscrew the other end off the back of the speedo, and see if the cable turns. | | |
