For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 112 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 112 | I'm the last guy you'd ever expect to be a gear head, but I do want to learn. When I was a kid, my dad had a 1969 C-10, which I learned to drive when I turned 16, and went on to drive many a mile. I have always wanted another truck like that. Last Saturday I acquired an identical twin at an auction. (See www.flickr.com/photos/24909616@N05/6262103805/)
She's all original with the same color, 250 cu. in. engine, manual transmission, and long, fleetside bed. She runs, but not wonderfully. She also has body damage in places, but is in fair shape.
With help from a true gear head friend at work, I got her home and made a list of basic maintenance actions to perform. Today I changed the oil, and stand ready to lube. I can find a few obvious lube points, but would love to have a comprehensive list of all points. I'd appreciate advice on such from the pros. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Welcome to the Stovebolt. Sounds like you have a nice project to work on. Lot of knowledge and info here. For the best results on questions try to post them in the most appropiate forum. You'll get better results and more of them. Not everyone visits here in the Welcome Centre. Good luck. I'm sure you'll have it up and running soon. Nothing better than a chevy truck!!! How about a pic when you can. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Welcome to the site. Having the will to learn is half the battle. It'll be road ready before you know it. Good luck.

Spent a week there once. It was gorgeous. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 106 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 106 | Great looking truck and all the better with so many good memories. Do yourself a big favor and buy an official 1969 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual. You will find lube information and thousands of other useful things to help you get to know your truck better. Just Google 1969 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual and several sources to buy a manual will come up. The one I looked at cost $30. You said you changed the oil. Be sure to change the trans and rear end fluids too if you haven't already done it. Have fun!

Wow, I haven't thought of Tooele, Utah in a while. Worked with a guy from there way back.
