Here is the information we have on 55 2nd series-56:
Short Stepside - 2nd Series: Length of bed wood 77 1/8". Inside width of bed 50".
Long Stepside - 2nd Series: Length of bed wood 89". Inside width of bed 50".

thanks for the measurements exactly what i needed as i havnt got the truck home yet and i was trying to work something out
