I am looking to convert a '55 second series to a cummins and redo the interior, but the original seat frame springs that came on these were cr**! It feels like the stuffing is made from a dead possom! I want to get the seat out of a donor vehicle I plan on getting which will be a '94-'97 Dodge one-ton truck bench seat with fold down console in the middle. How would I go about adapting them? The only thing I did not measure was the length of the '55 seat, so if anyone can tell me that, I would appreciate it. ANY input, advice, or ideas are helpful!

What was the length of your old seat that was in the truck originally? Another thing I was considering was bolting or welding the seat brakets from the '55 to the seat frame of the dodge if the dodge bench seat will fit. This way, I will not have to drill new holes in the bottom of the cab. I know it is not too tall, but I am not sure if it's too long. The seat I plan on installing from the donor truck will be 60", or 5 feet, exactly in length. You said in your post the replacement ford seats were 57" long, correct? Do you think it would have three inches to spare?

My seat has about an inch on each side. 60" might work, but it will be pretty tight.

I used seat out of a 2001 Buick lesabre in my 54 should fit nicely in a 55. Look at the pictures in my photobucket it show the fabricated seat brackets.

Do you mind me asking how much those buick seats and the fabrication cost you?

I think the seats were $275.00 as far as the fabrication it was a package deal with the rest of the rebuild. look on this site for steppenwood he has pix of his bracket. my seats are leather because i use my truck but they are available in cloth.

Thanks for the help! I went out there and measured the truck today. The original bench seat is 57 inches long, but from one side of the cab to the other, behind the seat, it is 63 inches long. I guess the big bolt trucks have a slightly larger cab.
