Tool set like that is worth about $300 on eBay. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Very nice, AD pickup. Congratulations.
Would you please post a few more photos of the spark-plug socket? Especially photos of any manufacturer's markings.
Thanks,

The only marking is on the pliers "MADE IN U.S.A.". The sparkplug socket is 1" OD. They would have had the ‘M‘ or ‘V’ trade mark on one end and would have been embossed with “FORGED IN U.S.A.” and random casting numbers on the same side. Also the pliers from this period would have had the ‘V’ or ‘M’ embossed on the handle. The 6” long shank also would have been stamped with a 3/32” to 3/16” logo. The information on the sparkplug wrench is somewhat sketchy, and Vlchek may of may not have been stamped on them thru out the 50’s. One thing for sure is they would have been for a 13/16”hex. The same seems to be true for the hammers also, they may or may not have had the logo‘s stamped on the top side of the head. Now, when the tool kit is laid out on the fender for a display at the car show, just how many people do you think are going to check for the logo’s??????? Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

A "v" within a circle (or "badge") for Vlchek and McKaig-Hatch spelt out on the M-H tools.
At a show, I check for the logos, Denny (and, I bet you check also). And/but, I do not say anything, if there are no logos.
If I remember, I'll take photos of the labels/logos (I have a hammer, as PP&M sang, but I do not recall if it has a logo).

I am pretty sure everything in this kit is original because it was in the orginial box. A bunch of us vintage auto enthusiast meet every Sunday morning at Star Bucks. A gentleman who has a 40 Ford Coupe and I were talking about accessories, he said he had a GM tool kit that belonged to his dad who owned only Chevys. I asked him if he would bring it the next week so I could see it. He did and he asked if I would like to buy it. I asked how much, he said $50.00, end of story. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | ...check the "circle" really close. I have a set of Ferd wrenches that have the "circle" on them but there is a faint word in the center which is Ford. Got a magnifying glass?
Please understand I'm NOT saying the wrenches are Ferd but just trying to help confirm what you do have.

Please understand I'm NOT saying the wrenches are Ferd but just trying to help confirm what you do have. After looking at the circle with a magnifying glass and good light the raised circle has MH in it. This is the large wrench, the two smaller ones have a circle with a blurr. From what I have been reading, the hammer, screwdriver and sparkplug wrench may or may not have markings. So, I am satisfied that these are orginial tools. | | |
