According to Dave‘s site, McKaig-Hatch and Vlchek were supplying all of the wrenches
to GM for their kits from 1946 to ‘54. They would have had the ‘M‘ or ‘V’ trade mark on
one end and would have been embossed with “FORGED IN U.S.A.” and random casting
numbers on the same side. Also the pliers from this period would have had the ‘V’ or ‘M’
embossed on the handle. The 6” long shank also would have been stamped with a 3/32”
to 3/16” logo. The information on the sparkplug wrench is somewhat sketchy, and Vlchek
may of may not have been stamped on them thru out the 50’s. One thing for sure is they
would have been for a 13/16”hex. The same seems to be true for the hammers also, they
may or may not have had the logo‘s stamped on the top side of the head.
Now, when the tool kit is laid out on the fender for a display at the car show, just how
many people do you think are going to check for the logo’s???????
