Us monkeys ain't too dumb after all. I made one for a 58 with some thread all, washers and nuts. stretch the spring on the bench to the right length,install the spring and remove the nuts. There is a posting that someone stretched the spring and froze it a block of ice, installed it and melted the ice to release the spring. They actually sell a hook with a handle that works very well.
