| | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 32 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 32 | I made a simple little device/tool to help me get the hood spring off and the new one installed on my '56 GMC. I made it from a long ground rod and a piece of chain. One end of the rod is braced against the bottom of the firewall and then the chain is fixed so that when you pull down on the other end of the rod it stretches the spring enuff to remove and/or install it with little to no strain. The materials I used were not the strongest but it got the job done. It sure beats a screw driver and some water pump pliers.
