At the worst you'll wear out another seal. If you're lucky it will be okay.
If it's still apart, take some fine emery cloth and smooth the surface on the crank. You will probably need to work all the way around the crank, it's one of those jobs where there's no stopping point. I'd pull the spark plugs to make it easier to turn the engine.
