HELP! I bought a 1954 chevy one ton 3800 dual rear tires and can not find rear wheel cylinders! the bore is 1 1/4" and the problem is my wheel cylinders have the bolts above the bleeder and all the ones I am getting from Carters and so on are in line with the bleeder screw. Any Ideas!!!! Need brakes to drive truck! Old wheel cylinders are too rusty to re kit.

crockbuyer,

Contact Joe Way at Sierra Specialty Automotive and have him sleeve your old cylinders and put new kits in them. They will be better than new because the brass sleeve won't rust. His email is [email protected]

I have used Joe on many of my projects over the past 12 years, he's easy to deal with.

Hy crockbuyer, It's possible that someone swapped rear axles on your truck, could you post a picture of the wheel cylinder you're looking for? In the pictures in my brake parts catalogs Raybestos p/n WC18010 ($47.81 @ Rock Auto) is the rear wheel cylinder listed for your truck, and the mounting bolts are only very slightly above the centerline of the bleed screw hole. I assume the cylinders you have been recieving will not bolt into place on the backing plate, is that correct?Just in case you want to compare the Napa p/n is UP 18010, you could go to a store which stocks them and have a look.

Hy crockbuyer, that sure is a pretty truck, I've never seen those wings on the tops of the fenders before.

Hey crock,

I had same problem...got the right ones from NAPA but did not line up by a hair.

I used die grinder with 1/2" cutter to make backing plate groove a little deeper.

Also installed stainless steel bleeders.
