It had this cool looking Stewart Warner tach hose clamped to the steering column. I would like to put it in my 49 with a 6 volt 235. I do not know if the 53 was 6 or 12 volts. The tach has two wires off of the back. One was hooked to the ground and the other was loose under the hood. I am thinking it goes to the coil? or distributor? Not really sure where else it could go? Any ideas? I will venture a guess; that tach is probably 12V. A lot of the earlier 6V tachs have separate sending units. Can you find a model number? A model number or some ID could give you something to research. If it is a "current sensing" instrument the "Dist Pri" wire usually connected to the hot side of the ballast resistor. There are a few gauge restoration shops on the net that might be able to steer you in the right direction. BTW, cool truck.
