Hi folks - photo of my oil filter canister and filler cap is linked below. Wanted to know if there is an element that goes inside this canister? Currently it just has a small amount of oil in it and no filter/element. On the top it has "AC" stamped on the bracket between the canister and the filler. Thanks for your help!

It looks to me like you have some kind of air filter on the filler tube. I take it there are no lines connected to it?

There are no lines, it's attached to the oil filler neck. You're probably right, it's probably some sort of breather? On the carb side of the truck/manifold, there is no oil canister - that's why I thought perhaps that was it, but you are probably correct. thanks!

That's a breather on the oil filler tube. My friend has the same assembly on his 1949 GMC 228 engine. Chevy trucks did not have this assembly.
