For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 18 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 18 | Hi folks - photo of my oil filter canister and filler cap is linked below. Wanted to know if there is an element that goes inside this canister? Currently it just has a small amount of oil in it and no filter/element. On the top it has "AC" stamped on the bracket between the canister and the filler. Thanks for your help! I take it there are no lines connected to it? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 18 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 18 | There are no lines, it's attached to the oil filler neck. You're probably right, it's probably some sort of breather? On the carb side of the truck/manifold, there is no oil canister - that's why I thought perhaps that was it, but you are probably correct. thanks! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 | That's a breather on the oil filler tube. My friend has the same assembly on his 1949 GMC 228 engine. Chevy trucks did not have this assembly. | | |
