Trying to install Langdon HEI on '54 261...can get the truck to idle, but will not pick up RPM's. Will buy a new timing light tomorrow (mine bit the dust)--does not backfire. Any suggestions?

Thanks,T.K.

Check the vac adv. Should be able to take the distr cap off and apply suction to the the vac adv and see the arm move. Another check is to gain RPMs very slowly using only the centrifugal advance, if that fails check to see if you can move the weights on the centrifugal advance.

Sounds like the timing is way too slow. You might be a tooth off. Try turning the dist.counter clockwise & see if it perks up.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
