I'm a new guy with probably an old question. I was curious what oil other bolters are running, I have been running castrol 5w30 with BG's RF-7 additive in my 250 six. Is this a good combination or am I missing something vitally important? Just concerned about what I hear with modern oils not having friction reducers in them that older engines need.
Any help is appreciated

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Modern oils will be fine, you really only run into trouble if you replace the cam/lifters or are running a race type camshaft with high spring pressures. You really don't ned the addative, from what I read about it, it only increases the viscosity. Best bet would be to bump up to 10w-30 if you need a heavier oil.
