| | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 75 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 75 | I purchased my'40 1/2 ton about 2 years ago, the brakes seemed to work and did not seem to leak. I replaced the flexible brake lines, added new fluid and blead the brakes. A while later all the wheel cylinders seem to be leaking and my master cylinder is dry.
Could the DOT 5 fluid have corroded the old rubber in my system?

Mixing the Silicone fluid with the old fluid is not good. I would put kits in all the cyls as long as they hone out ok. The replacement wheel cyls. for Huck brakes are not good.

The USA ones were about twice the price of the junk ones, but well worth it. Don't know if they are still available.
That said, the master cylinder (made in Argentina) was junk, and Carter did refund my $. I ended up getting a rebuild kit from NAPA and had a local shop rebuild my original one. No problems since, and I'm using DOT 3. Good luck!
