Well things have been a little slow around the ‘Bolt lately so I thought I might throw in a little filler till it picks up again, must be the hot weather keeping everyone away.

I was finishing up my fuel/vacuum pump install and had this loose bundle of four tubes running over the top of the engine. Those little factory tube clips are only made to clip the fuel and vacuum advance lines to together and the stock metal tie-wraps that GM used in the later years are a little hard to get as tight as I wanted, besides, I didn‘t have any on hand.

Collecting dust in the tool box was this “Clamptite” wire tool that I bought several years ago. It looked interesting at the time but I never found a use for it, till now. I thought I’d give it a try on this bundle of tubes. I guess it doesn’t look to bad and it might even look period correct. Heck, anything has to look better than those dang plastic tie-wraps

Denny,

How about a few more photos of all the "terminal ends" of that plumbing?

Nice job, as usual.

I had a thread running over at this address Tim, showing the plumbing in a little more detail if that was what you meant. https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=770598&#Post770598

So how does that work Denny? You wrap the wire, use the tool to tighten the wire then snip and fold the end?

Oh boy, someone else with a clamptite! I've had one for a couple of years, and have used it for all sorts of things. In fact, the rad hose on my Model T has been attached with one of these for 2 years now. I use mine with annealed stainless safety wire. Its like having every size of hose clamp in your tool box. For most thing I just use a single wrap of wire, but for big hoses, I use two wraps.

That's exactly how it works Tiny.

They are a wonderful tool to have. So much improvement over screw type hose clamps. Have repaired leaking connections on my air hoses with them at the ends where leaks always develop. I think the uses are unlimited for them.

Mine arrived on Wednesday. I'll be playing with it soon. Search the Internet for the best price (I posted a link but it has been removed).
