I found the rearend below , I was told it came from a 56 chevy . I need to do brakes on it before i install it but would like to be more sure so i can tell the parts counter what i need . Can somebody tell from the pictures ?

it's correct for 55.2-59, and the brake parts will be the same for any of those years [and most parts fit earlier and later] ... not sure you need to do anything to them if the other side looks the same, except maybe cylinder kits, no need to waste useable parts

Tri-5 Passenger for certain, though the same diff was used in Passenger application up to '64. Ratio could be 3.55, 3.79, or 4.11. Brakes look alright, I do agree with maybe putting an overhaul kit in the wheel cylinders.
Just and FYI, Positraction 3rd members are VERY common for this rearend.

Not correct for trucks, but it should work nicely.
