I had it double-nutted, and that lasted for almost two years, but coming home the other night, I noticed it was getting louder up front, and, sure enough, one stud was devoid of the nuts.
First off, does anyone know what size the exhaust pipe to manifild nuts are? Second, can a lock washer be used with these brass nuts to hold it more permanently? | | | | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 117 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2009 Posts: 117 | the nuts should be 3/8 and yes use a lock washer that should stop the problem | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 338 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 338 | and possibly some high temp locktite???

also check you're motor mts. might need to be replaced
and the hangers on the exhaust pipe there might be to much movment causing the nuts to come loose Pete

3/8" - 16 is what you want, or 3/8" -24 depending on the stud. Fine or course thread, pretty easy to see the difference. Also make sure the donut gasket is not smashed if it has one. My 250 uses a gasket and once they start to smash, it just keeps going and the pipe stays loose.

In it were, besides two studs, were three tall brass nuts, three "normal looking" brass nuts, and two (?) steel lock washers. I put one lock washer and a tall nut on the side without nuts and it pulled up tight. I also tightened the existing nuts on the other side, and all seems good again. At some point I'll replace the nuts on the other stud.
Thanks again for your input.
