any input? would love to mount under the dash, but most mount in window edges.

There are some postings in the radio sub forum. They seem to work well on FM applications.

I used a standard antenna, mounted to the frame under my running boards. Works fine for FM stuff / not too great for AM.

Don - most 'hidden' antennas can't be totally inside the body metal, which acts as a shield against the signal .... a buddy made up a slick plexi "plate topper" to hide his outside the truck, works great

IF you can find one, in the '30s GM made an under the running board antenna. It was of course made for AM I have no clue as to whether it would even work for FM but it would be fun to play with one.

I bought a hidden antenna for my truck and mounted it to my bedwood underneath side, it works great. I must add that I do not use my truck in rain or snow. Most of them as stated above need to be away from metal surfaces some (powered versions) will actually short out in those applications.

Dang. I was going to tuck mine up above the headliner toward the front. Back to the drawing board.

The one I bought on eBay is a small box with the aerial in a 3M tape that sticks like the box to just about anything. Once it is on I don't think you could pull it off. This is the one I bought.

No I stuck it to the bedwood underneath then I ran the lead (9' long) up under the cab into the truck. All total it has a 2" by 1/2" box that sticks then a 18" antenna inside plastic that you peel and stick, none of this is visible on my truck.

Do you think it will stay on there through rain, snow, sleet, and sand and gravel? I would think it would get pretty rough under there. Also, does it come with the 9' lead and will the plug fit all radios?

I don't drive my truck except in the summertime on clear, nice days so no I don't think it will hold up under those kids of conditions. Yes the plug on a 9' lead will fit all radios. I will attach a picture up here tomorrow of the install.

Here is the picture of the antenna in place on my truck, simplest thing to install ever just peel and stick. Don't know if anyone has tried it but I would bet this would work great stuck to the underside of the cardboard headliner with the lead run down the DS post where the wire comes up for the dome light.

Thanks Brad, I believe I'll get one of those. They are cheap enough one could replace it every two or more years. I'll try it out above the windshield first.

i dont have that type but the one i got is junk. it doesnt matter if you hide it or not reception is like a vacuum pump. i got tired of trying to adjust it for reception that i took it off. i use an ipod and get to hear what i want to hear and nothing is in sight.

What kind are you using, the one that came with the radio?
If this doesn't give me reception I'll drill and install an outside antenna.

I just can't imagine not using an outside antenna. What would I do with my Antenna girl?
