Hi all,

Last month I picked up a 1954 chevy 3100 5 window hydamatic for me and my father to restore and take to local events along side his 33' pontiac. Im not a wrench and have a million questions. I'll try and do my research before posting wink I'm looking forward to this project and maybe be able to meet up with some of the locals in Ohio.

Here is a youtube video of the truck in its current state:

Welcome to Stovebolt.com

Nice truck. Looks like it's had some cosmetic surgery on the middle grill bar?

Have you run it? How does the shifting feel?

Keith Hardy has kindly provided the following useful documents on-line:

1954 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual, if you do not have one.

1954 Chevrolet Truck specifications manual (WARNING: about 5 MB download).

1954 Chevrolet Hydra-Matic manuals/booklets (7 documents - via Greg Hill)

Thanks for the links! Those will come in handy.

I have not drove it yet. We did get it running and it semed to go through all the gears on the lift. Hopefully after this weekend I'll have the brakes back together and be able to drive it around the back 40. I'm sure it will need plenty of adjusting.

Also I have no indicator needle on the column. Is there one? If so is it specific to the 54?

I could not see your shift-indicator on the column. Are you just missing the needle (maybe WD will see this) or are you missing the entire indicator assembly/housing?

It looks like the second picture. I havent looked at it close enough to see what moves or what might be broke or missing. I will post a good pic this weekend and look at it more closely. The truck is stored at my parents 40min from my home so I only get a few hours on the weekend to tinker.
