I have a 62 and there is no evidence that there were seals between the fenders and the cowl. Water, mud and dust are splashed to the door frames, were they made this way?

I have purchased the seals but it is not at all clear how they would mount. They do not appear wide enough to close the gap. Should there be another part? Any info would be helpful.

There was a seal in there from the factory, just most times they are so far deteriorated it's hard to see it.

The '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks, Panels & Suburbans had the closure/extension from the backside of the front fender brace, to the front face of the lower cab "A" pillar. There is a rigig metal piece and flexible rubberized piece, one each side.

As I recall the metal piece is welded to the fender? Is this true and if so are there other ways to attach.

actually the metal pcs are held on with metal clips

The metal extension is held on with 4 metal friction clips and the rubber extension is held in place with staples.

I do have a pair, if you still need them. The rubber extension pieces are sold by many of the aftermarket truck parts suppliers. I make my own staples with stainless steel wire, bent to duplicate the factory staples.

i used contact adhesive instead of the staples, and i used plastic "mushroom" fasteners to connect seal metal to fender brace.

How are the metal friction clips removed without just cutting them.
Or do you have to just cut them.

OK, thanks for the info. I believe someone put new fenders on my truck and failed to install dust seals and also removed the metal extension.

I am going to look for another option to the factory seals because I have no intention of removing the fenders at this point.

its a pretty big gap! maybe some closed cell foam like appliances are shipped with? don't know how you will get it in though, maybe remove bottom bolt on fender?
