I got the brakes done, washed it and took it for a ride so I could take some pictures. Check them out on my Flickr link and let me know what you think. Yes I know the hood doesn't fit exactly right and that is a project for a upcoming day, but it was nice to get it out on the road and drive it.

John,
She looks as good as a high school cheerleader when I was 16. You know, the outside of a truck can be deceiving. It can look spotless, and immaculate with clean lines. When judging the quality of the work done on a bolt I want to look first at the engine compartment and then the interior and last the outside. Many a vehicle has had a coat of paint to cover the mess. Yours however looks like a winner. Congrads now fix that hood. lol

I just deleted another post with nothing about working on a truck. Seems like I get two or three a week. Again I must remind you guys, this thread is for what you did on your old truck. Please keep it on topic.

Thanks

By the way, I got the original style upholstery material for my burb and took the seats to the upholsterer's yesterday.

I started dismantling an oversized, ugly, miserable, etc... radio (probably early to mid '70s era) to get it out of my '61. The dash got pretty well hacked up when it got installed, but I'd rather look at weird gaping holes than that radio. LOL

I find I rather like the "demolition" mode. Great to work out frustrations.

Installed the glovebox lid, glovebox lock, windshield wiper motor cover/header panel, rearview mirror (from a 90's Olds with little map lights on the bottom) wiper switch, a/c vents, rerouted some hanging wires and a/c ducts, installed the a/c control knobs in the existing holes next to the ignition switch, installed the cowl vent knob, installed my left wiper blade that fell off a few weeks ago, got the tach working correctly, tried to calibrate the electronic speedo, (now it reads 0, always, - anyone?) and my favorite: put a bow tie "air conditioned" sticker from a 60's impala on the front windshield - I know, it's not correct, but I like it. A little bling installed keeps me going.

New wheels arrived Thursday, checked 'em for "true and concentric". Deburred them good and will take them to powdercoat on Tuesday.

Yessiree Bob.

I think neither of us won the cheeseburger for going to the show in Austin in May?

Mine's on the road as a daily driver but still lots of interior work until it's presentable up close. And yes, I'll have pics soon.

Oh, got the speedo calibrated today.

The doors on the ’53 are now sanded and primed.

Had to replace the brake hose on the ’65 front wheel.

Thanks man! Just trying to do this job as efficiently as possible - my inlaws must have 15 old bikes in a barn, so I grabbed one - and the wood is hydro pole cut up!

I'll admit, it's still fairly heavy, but lets me move the old 216 around until I'm sure I want to get rid of it.

Test drove it after fighting shift linkage for a while. Now it goes into second gear without the clutch pushing it back into neutral! Alignment is next.

Haven't posted in a while... busy boy.
Bought a pertronix set, a new rocker shaft set and gas pedal linkage for the 261.
Hopefully that'll wrap up the power plant part of this project.
(I haven't tried to crank the 261 yet but I'm getting closer)
I also bought an assembly manual as I'm now shifting my project direction toward the body of the truck.
Another recent purchase, a Danbury Mint '58 Stepside is sitting on my desk at work for inspiration!

Jerry

I got my brake shoes back from the shop, painted the brake hardware with silver Brake Caliper paint, then reaassembled the brakes. As soon as the parking brake cables come back with the new clips to attach to the rear brake hardware, I'll be reinstalling everything and rolling!

I installed my NOS windshield washer bottle and foot pump I filled it with orange Rain-X since my truck is blue for a contrast. I like how it looks, old school with that quart jar under the hood.

Nothing physically to the truck, but I scored a pair of rear tyres for it today.
The guy had bought them without fully thinking things through, result....they rubbed his fenders.
20 Miles from new and minimal marking from the rubbing for less than half price!
I'm happy....

I did actually get something done today,(Sunday)
Finished stripping the old paint off the right hand bed-side,sanded primed and re-painted it too.
Just need to POR-15 the panels under the bedstrips and they'll be good to go.

I finally had some time to work on the truck.
Since I've always had traction problems, I decided to fab up some old school traction bars. I used a 4" x 6" angle cut to size for the mounting plate & about 30" of 2" x 2" heavy wall tubing for the bar.
After getting them welded up & installed it was time for a test ride.
The truck now hooks up increadibly well !! Like a major smoke show at will !!
Tomorrow they will come off & be sent out for power coating.

Tested new Temp Guage prior to replacing faulty new guage.
Completed some rewiring under the dash, installed the new Temp
Guage into the cluster and got it hooked up & tested, labeled wiring under dash, reinstalled the guage cluster and Speedo.
Still trying to get some pics posted of my 51 1/2 Ton Chevy Stovie.

Wanted to get my tail lights installed but instead worked on trying to get wiring done on horn. Waisted a lot of time and sweat. Don't know if horn is bad or what. Currently have a auxilary horn button mounted on steering column. Still can't it to work right.
