I have a '46 two ton with eight-hole wheels. Can anyone tell me if the widowmakers came in an eight hole version? Or are the eight holers 'safe'? They went to the scrapyard.
The 8 hole rims with the lock rings are OK if the tire shop will work with them, you have to find the right guys with tire cages and experience mounting them. My tires are 7:50 - 17's.

They may still have a cage sitting around.

And it's hard to tell if there locked in. Those are the true widow makers. The ones with the split ring and locking ring on the outside are a lot safer. As long as you find a older tire guy with his own small tire business you shouldn't have any trouble getting those mounted. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,061 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,061 | Just for your info, the only 7:50 x 17 tires I have found are Tornels. I have had good luck with them and just had a set recapped. New they are about $145 a piece up here. The recap cost me $110 each.
Like Alvin said, this work was done at a big truck place by some more mature guys who knew what they were doing.
