Don't want to disconnect anything I'm not supposed to.

I have to make sure the unit has no external drag before adjusting....I want to makae sure I disconnect the right rod.

I'm trying to find the connecting rod...But after reading the manual there is only one rod connected to the pitman arm...so I
m going to take that off before adjusting steering. Any clue how it comes apart. I took off the nut and it won't budge..I tapped it with a hammer and no go..I just wet it down with WD40 acouple of hrs ago...hope that helps.

No need to remove it for what you are doing.The steering connecting rod attaches from the Pitman Arm to the tie rod. On the end of the connecting rod at the Pitman Arm you'll see a cotter pin thru a slotted nut. Remove the cotter pin and back off the slotted nut. This will loosen it enough to lift off the Pitman Arm attaching ball. After years of use it might take a little effort to disengage it from the ball. Correcting myself a little: The "slotted nut" is actually a threaded plug, not a nut at all.

If so, you'll need to use a little force to separate it. I use a pickle fork . But if your squeamish about pounding on your parts (and I wouldn't blame you), then a press type is also available.
