It appears to be a large threaded bolt. Do I back that out and what size is it as I will need to purchase a socket. I have the shackels removed from the front part of the frame aleady along with the brake lines. Also how do you remove the steering linkage? Thanks

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 | Remove the nut on the end of the bolt. The bolt can then be unscrewed and removed. This is a special hollow bolt and chances are good it will be very worn and will need to be replaced. Some people have had trouble finding replacements that fit properly. I got mine from LMC Truck and they fit perfectly. If LMC hasn't caught onto the fact they are selling them at a fraction of the cost of all the other vendors you will be in luck.
Not sure which part of the steering linkage you are struggling with. Both the drag link and tie rod ends use a system of springs and cups that grip a ball on the steering arms and pitman arm. The large slotted screw on the ends of these needs to be loosened or better yet removed to get them off the balls.
