Personally, I'm leaning toward Langdons progressive 2bbl set up, but I do like to check out all options.  So, 4 bbl conversion on a 250, Good or Bad? Dave

If your 250 will remain stock other than the carburetor then I don't recommend a 4 barrel. The Holley-Weber progressive 2 barrel will work MUCH better with the stock engine. Chuck's engine is a little hotter than stock so the Edelbrock works with his. A stock 250 (or 292) would be overcarbed with a 500 cfm 4 barrel.
I have the same carb (500 cfm Edelbrock) and intake (Offenhauser 4 barrel) as chuckthetruck on a .060 overbored 292 that has headers and a mild cam. Worked good right out of the box. Still needs tuning for optimum performance. If I were buying again I'd probably go for the progressive 2 bbl for my engine. I've NEVER gone into the secondaries on the 4 barrel and don't think the engine could handle the extra fuel/air anyways.

I'm adding headers, maybe a newer intake manifold (gonna try planing mine 1st). I think I'll go the 2 BBL route (read: cheapskate), and save my money for an overdrive unit and paint job.
