EVERYTHING is new to me. thanx, marc | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,094 | Get a sturdy one with 4 legs. These engines are HEAVY so make sure you have a stand that will suport it.

The bolt/hanger arrangement on various engine stands are quite possibly different. Some people have reported making a mounting plate/adapter to get their stand to attach to their engine. I have used several brands/styles of engine stands and have been able to find a way to get all of them to attach to a 216/235/261 blocks. In some cases, I have had to attach arms in the opposite orientation, bolting the stand-end of two arms to the block and bolting the block-end of those arms to the stand. If you get stuck finding a way to bolt up your stand, post here and I'll take a few photos of the bolt-on arrangement I am using on these stands. | | | | | Joined: May 2011 Posts: 91 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2011 Posts: 91 | hey tim, i appreciate it. i'm waiting for a call from the guy now. i'm gonna go ahead and get it. if i run into some mounting problems i'll take a pic and let you know. marc | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 461 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 461 | Three or four leg is fine.....some guys talk about flipping a three but i have never done that with my rebuild. Like tim said, have to flip a couple of arms around, be careful. Remember it is a stand and hopefully you will be installing the engine quickly rather than rolling it around the shop on display Hank | | |
