the turn signal lights on my '52 stopped working a few days ago. the system is a SignalStat 900 Sigflare and I just replaced the heavy duty flasher fuse and both light bulbs - now what? any ideas on what to try to get this thing working again?

Just a possibility. Have you checked your ground? The unit grounds by contact to steering column. My column bushing is bad at the dash, so I guess my column wasn't a good ground path anymore. Of course, mine resulted in a blown indicator bulb in signal unit & a smoking wire. I ran an extra ground added fuse & everything is OK now.

I haven't checked the ground. How would I go about confirming good contact via the steering column? continuity tester between the column and the frame?

You need to start with a test light. See if you have current from the flasher to the switch. If so see if you have current going to the respective lights. You also should have current to the switch from the stop lights when you press on the brake. The switch does not have to be grounded except for the pilot light in the switch.
