I've found a good running 261 in a 58 2 ton that I'm going to put in my 31 pickup. Due to the limited space in the cab I'm going to lose the foot start and put an ignition swith on the dash. What 235 starter would be compatible with the flywheel on the 58 261 and also have an electrical solenoid? Thanks

What year flywheel will you be using?

Do you have a 6v or 12v electrical system in your 31?

I want to keep the the original flywheel on the 58 motor. The 31 is 12v.

Probably any 12v 55-63 starter with solenoid that was used on a 6-cylinder manual transmission truck. 60-63 solenoid starters for 235/261 truck engines with manual transmissions should work fine.

Wait to hear from someone who has first-hand knowledge of other 55-63 12v solenoid starters will work with the 12v manual transmission flywheel.
