on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 90 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 90 | Hi Folks, Just wanted to show my LCF I bought a little bit more than a week ago. It's now up at my friend Matt how will tinker and fix it so it becomes roadworthy and free of major rot. Here are some pics: FrontRearThe frame / rear axle is a bit funny. They have basically put one extra frame rail on the truck above the original one. When doing that the put the main springs under the rear axle and the helper springs above. This truck has been a old Pepsi delivery truck, so maybe this is something common to drink delivery trucks. Funny frame and rear axle If anyone knows a bit about this it would be nice to know more. Anyways will be back soon when Matt gives me an in depth report. Th low rails let them put on a low body floor for the storage and delivery of the Pepsi product. This let them have a lower lift height, a serious benefit if you had to hand bomb all the product off the truck, even more so if you had to do it to load. I don't know about that vintage, but some newer trucks of this type have a longer extension behind the axle to allow 2 (or more) bays ahead of the axle, one over it, and one behind. A quick google on "beverage body" came up with several sites with photos of completed trucks including http://www.beveragebody.com/ but I didn't find photos of a dropped chassis waiting for body installation. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 | I sure like those LCF's. I drove one as a kid, well sort of not on the road. It was a 59 also.
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks. Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

Question is if I should try to put the frame back as it was originally? The extra frame rail should make it pretty rigid especially if we box it properly to the lower original frame rail. Matt got to check the front kickup better and possibly make it stronger if needed. Found this pic on flicker, granted it's a Ford but my truck probably looked very similar. 1968 Ford N-Series Beverage TruckCheers Dyna | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 | Dyna Nice looking truck. What are your plans for it in the future? Have fun Jim | | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 90 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 90 | Hi Jim, It will be a car hauler. Much in the same way as the lines as the Spartan car hauler currently for sale at Fast Lane. Spartan 100 car hauler I like the LCF better since it makes the truck shorter and easier to maneuver. Beside it's better looking too . Cheers Dyna | | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 | For some reason someone wanted to raise the frame rails. I don't like it when people weld stuff to the frame. Can weaken the frame and allows cracks to start. There are no older factory frames that are welded, well for trucks anyway. I don't think you will see much welding on a new Kenworth frame either.
