Finishing up my restoration on the '50 3100 and just found out why my new fuel line won't seem to fit correctly. I guess these old trucks had a 90 degree shutoff valve at the end of an 1/8" npt pipe. I found a pipe in the glove box along with a bunch of other parts. My truck had a hose barb and a rubber hose from the tank to the fuel pump. Does anyone know where I can get a new or repo valve or is this a DIY out of parts? I'm trying to stay as original as possible. Thanks.

I'm not sure if they are available new,but I imagine the survival rate of original ones would be good as they're made of brass.

Might be an idea to stick a wanted ad in the swap meet section.

The one on my own 50 was badly gummed up,but after a good soak in gas overnight it freed up nicely.......and NO you can't have it! wink

I don't think anyone has the repop petcock valves though, so don't throw yours away. I couldn't find a new one and kept mine, took it apart, blasted and polished it up. I used a new piece of pipe though. Works just fine.

They don't look original, but gas farm tractors had a valve like this. They are available and they serve the purpose. I use Case/IH.

Call Jim Carter and ask if he has a used valve off an old truck.

Weatherhead part# A555 is 90 degree shutoff, 1/8" male pipe to 1/4"
compression fitting. (Same as Carter's MEG137) Was about the same price at NAPA, but no shipping!!
