Does anybody know what headers will work on a 62 C10 with a 350 and 700R4. Hedman rep suggested the model 68390 but parts guy at scoggin dickey says if i buy and try to put them on and they dont work i may have a hard time getting hedman to take them back.

The V8 trucks came with rams-horn manifolds, and had the exhaust pipes routed up to them. I like to keep things simple:

I'd use reproduction 2.5-inch Rams Horn manifolds, the new Speedway rams horn manifolds, a set of shorty headers, or if you've got the front saddle-mount and no side mounts, I'd maybe go with some of the reproduction Fenton Tri-Y cast iron headers.

Unless you feel you NEED full-length headers. If that's the case... then I got nuthin.

Muscle car resto houses carry 2.5-inch Rans horns, as do Dorman dealers.
The 2.5-inchers were the factory hi-perf models; others were 2.0 or even smaller.

I had the c10 headmans on my 61. They worked ok after I hammered one tube, notched the bell housing cross member (which you already cut out or your auto trans would not fit) and relocated the brake lines for driver front. If I were to do it again, I would have used the 327 vette ramhorns like mentioned above. Thought I would chime in, just incase you had any remaining doubts about the ramhorns.

Anybody use the Sanderson shorties on their early 60's truck? I had them on a 305 sbc in my '56 Chevy and they cleared just fine. But they may not work out on the later models...
