My heater is apart and I'm getting ready to blast and paint it.

It was good to hear it rumble, though. But now it kinda sounds like one cylinder is not firing.... Another day....

Tonight I managed (remarkably) to rebuild the remote inside door handle. It was like trying to put a watch back together. Last night I ran the wires and hooked up the speakers and tested the radio, it worked. Tomorrow I plan on stuffing wires under the dash, keeping them organized and neat, and work some more on figuring out the headlights.

I'm currently at the one step forward, two steps back part of my build. Found out I will have to clear my centre crossmember for the driveshaft,as I found out the other day. I initially thought I might get away without doing it. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. Having a subframe from a 76 Nova put up front and an S-10 rear end put under her. While its there will have the brakes done, fuel tank moved to under the bed and the rear cab corners replaced from where they rusted out. Once she's back she should be driveable and I hope to start on the interior. | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 | Put a one step bigger jet in the carb and greased all the fittings today along with the drilled head bolt, the valvetrain repairs are now done so its time to look into electronic ignition. | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 | nothing done on the 50, but did wake up the 52 (fire truck) and drove it around and of coarse and to blow the siren and let the neighbors have a listen, | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 138 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 138 | I fought the gas gauge today. I ended up rewiring the entire citciut, and giving it power directly from the accessory post of the ignition switch. Closer to the end of day, I narrowed it down to the actual gauge as the problem. So I gave the PO a visit who had a box of stuff from his cousins 55 for me. I then robbed everything but the temp gauge from the newly acquired instrument panel. And it worked! And looks better! I also got a steering wheel from a 55, tie rod and ends, heater controls, master cylinder, and what looks to be the entire wireing harness.

Then putting a lazer pointer in the pully of the old 6 volt generator messured how much pully was from bracket. Did the same on the new alternator in reverse marked and cut the 2 inch spacer . Measured too make sure wasnt cutting into body of alternator ( 2 inch spacer is 1 inch cast into the body of the alternator and 1 inch over hanging supported by lighweight cast in webs ) cut back too correct measurement. Drilled holes on old bracket too take 8 1/2 inch piece of all thread, locked it into place using 3 nuts and washers. Slid alternator onto all thread secured with lock nut , took off old generator adjustment bracket flipped it over and matches new Alternator offset perfect. Put laser pointer in water pump grove and shone it on Alternator pully perfect alinement , Put Standard belt back on tightens up perfect , all secure and very solid. Am very happy with result and didnt cost anything too do

All those horror stories about installing the cab windlace?? My son and I and a bottle of ivory liquid detergent took less than 10 minutes per door. First I cut a 2" piece and slid it through the tracks then I used a screwdriver to force open were needed. Not a problem!

Many parts, blocks and engines had to be moved out to get his 60 Impala with the 235 and overdrive I want out. That event went well into the night. I had to pull the flat tired Impala out with my 61 Chevy longbed. the glide and 2800 stall converter were not ideal for this. good thing my truck still has those 3.89 gears. We got stuff back in on shelves in the back and the car is now at the door facing out. Soon I will hear my future 235 run, and then pull it out of the Impala! xross your fingers it runs great for me... | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | Finally found the correct interior rear view mirror stem, got that on, took all of 5 minutes, I should be more motivated to keep going. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 90 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 90 | Connected battery too cables and tested newly installed wiring loom , No smoke so far and everything working
