Sounds like you're making great progress Jerry...can't wait to hear about you firing it up!

My heater is apart and I'm getting ready to blast and paint it.

Ospho-ed some rust peeking through on the tailgate, piddled with the gas gauge wiring, tried to adjust the parking brake and found everything is to rusted to tighten, drove it around the field, found out applying the brakes lights up the blinkers up front and the blinkers don't work on either the front or the back.

It was good to hear it rumble, though. But now it kinda sounds like one cylinder is not firing.... Another day....

Tightned up the remaining bolts to finish and took her around the neighborhood for a 6.5 mile shakedown cruise. Started the frame off in 2006 finally done in time to enjoy her this summer.

Started mine in 06 as well and hope to have her roadworthy by June.
Tonight I managed (remarkably) to rebuild the remote inside door handle. It was like trying to put a watch back together. Last night I ran the wires and hooked up the speakers and tested the radio, it worked. Tomorrow I plan on stuffing wires under the dash, keeping them organized and neat, and work some more on figuring out the headlights.

Sounds like 2011 will a good year for maiden voyages!

I'm currently at the one step forward, two steps back part of my build.
Found out I will have to clear my centre crossmember for the driveshaft,as I found out the other day.
I initially thought I might get away without doing it. dang

Replaced the dimmer switch and put new hood bumper pads on. Measured the stock wheel backset - lookin' at some wheels and tires, trying to see if they will clear the tie rod ends. Pretty sure they will, now I just need to come up with some cash!

Bought a courtesy light cutoff delay from American Autowire along with two turnsignal dash lights and a highbeam light. Also put the first coat of clear urethane on the bed wood, two more coats to go.

I put some more junk in the bed... I guess I'll have to clean it up soon and put the battery back in that I "borrowed" when I was having issues getting my Binder to start.

I sent mine to the shop to get frame work done. Having a subframe from a 76 Nova put up front and an S-10 rear end put under her. While its there will have the brakes done, fuel tank moved to under the bed and the rear cab corners replaced from where they rusted out. Once she's back she should be driveable and I hope to start on the interior.

I fought the gas gauge today. I ended up rewiring the entire citciut, and giving it power directly from the accessory post of the ignition switch. Closer to the end of day, I narrowed it down to the actual gauge as the problem. So I gave the PO a visit who had a box of stuff from his cousins 55 for me. I then robbed everything but the temp gauge from the newly acquired instrument panel. And it worked! And looks better! I also got a steering wheel from a 55, tie rod and ends, heater controls, master cylinder, and what looks to be the entire wireing harness.

Mounted my replacement alternator Got a brand new chromed one with a 2 inch mounting spacer. Then putting a lazer pointer in the pully of the old 6 volt generator messured how much pully was from bracket. Did the same on the new alternator in reverse marked and cut the 2 inch spacer . Measured too make sure wasnt cutting into body of alternator ( 2 inch spacer is 1 inch cast into the body of the alternator and 1 inch over hanging supported by lighweight cast in webs ) cut back too correct measurement. Drilled holes on old bracket too take 8 1/2 inch piece of all thread, locked it into place using 3 nuts and washers. Slid alternator onto all thread secured with lock nut , took off old generator adjustment bracket flipped it over and matches new Alternator offset perfect. Put laser pointer in water pump grove and shone it on Alternator pully perfect alinement , Put Standard belt back on tightens up perfect , all secure and very solid. Am very happy with result and didnt cost anything too do

My 61 Longbed had its Holley 600 carb borrowed to get the 283 in my 63 going. The 61 was settin for a week. Today I slapped on an old QJet that came on the 61's horrible 350 when I first got it. It's been sitting for a year. I was just going to use the qjet to move it into my garage so I could start on my 216 swap soon. To my total surprise, It runs well! yahoo

Put the first coat of three on my topside bed boards. I've finished the underside and should be putting the bed together by Sunday evening. Also starting on, ugh, the weatherstrip.

NOTHING TO IT!!!

All those horror stories about installing the cab windlace?? My son and I and a bottle of ivory liquid detergent took less than 10 minutes per door. First I cut a 2" piece and slid it through the tracks then I used a screwdriver to force open were needed.
Not a problem!

Well I helped my friend get his storage reorganized. Many parts, blocks and engines had to be moved out to get his 60 Impala with the 235 and overdrive I want out. That event went well into the night. I had to pull the flat tired Impala out with my 61 Chevy longbed. the glide and 2800 stall converter were not ideal for this. good thing my truck still has those 3.89 gears. We got stuff back in on shelves in the back and the car is now at the door facing out. Soon I will hear my future 235 run, and then pull it out of the Impala! xross your fingers it runs great for me...

I pulled the ragged upholstery off the jump seat cushion in the burb and welded the broken mounts. Then put the ragged upholstery back on because SMS still hasn't got off their duff and sent the material I paid for April 8. I was hoping to have the upholstery done before driving to South Bend, but noooo. It will still have the Mexican blankets.

After we got *the* Stovebolt back up and running (Baldeagle and I), I got the '65 Tanker out and watered Peggy's transplanted azealeas. Nothing like a fire hose in one hand and a Beck's in the other smile

Oh, and I reinstalled a water pressure gage on the pump right before I did that. The 66-year old Darley 500 GPM pump was making 90 psi without even breaking a sweat.

Finished the third coat of urethane on the top side of the bedwood.
Spent an hour or so on the wiring.
Tomorrow or Wednesday night we will put the bed together.

Sent it to the air conditioning shop to finish out the hoses and freon. Next week I'll be towing it to Rich's Performance Muffler Shop (http://www.richs-performance-mufflers.com/) for an X pipe set-up. Then it's to the county tax office for registration.

Straighten out my LF. Door Piler and Primed it. Started to cut out my LF. Floor section, Side Kick Panel and Rocker Panel. Cutting brace bars to keep the Piler from moving and welding to F. Piler to R. Piler plus tying across F. to F. Piler too.
