hello
just found a 1941 1.5 ton long wheelbase that had been sitting dormant on a ranch for over 50 years! the engine is froze, there is some rust to contend with, and the wiring was shot. i've got diesel fuel in the crankcase and cylinders and managed to clean 70 years of grease and dirt off the frame, engine, and body. took about 4 hours with a power washer. couple of questions. 1. where can i get a brake master cylinder rebuild kit? 2. also need brake hose and wheel cylinder kits or replacements. 3. you know what is involved getting to the back brake shoes, is it necessary to get in there just because it's been sitting? i was gonna rebuild/replace the hydraulics and then see how the brakes worked. sound ok? thanx for your input.

I got all of the rebuild kits for my 41 from Napa, hoses too. I ordered hoses from Carter but they were the wrong I.D. The napa hose is about .25" longer than the OE but they work. In the end the napa kits might be okay, but I thought they were a little sloppy so I bought new wheel cylinders from Jim Carter. The M/C rebuild kit I got from napa is working well. I can't seem to find the part numbers right now for napa but they are online. Good luck, and keep us up on the progress!

http://www.allfrictions.com/home.html These guys will reline your shoes with new materials, at a very reasonable price. I haven't personally used them yet, they were recommended to me by a very reputable local restoration shop, as well as a friend who had them make new clutch lining for his JD 610. My truck had very low miles when I got it, and the shoes were still pretty good. I plan on having them do my shoes next winter when the truck goes back into hibernation. As for pics, I still haven't figured out how to put a link down in the signature area of my posts. I'll look into it again, but for now... http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k483/Hotrod_A/

hey hotrod

just go to the toolbar and click on "my stuff." then click on "edit profile." at the bottom you will see a place to create a "signature block." go to your photobucket site and "cut" your personal address. come back to your signature block and paste your photobucket address there. hope this works for you!
