My axles are extremely worn and pitted on the surface where the rear wheel bearing rides. I have exhausted all local machine shops and no one around here can resurface or find a sleeve to repair the damage. Does anyone out there know of a supplier that may have a repair sleeve to fix my axles. Thanks Kenny

I had the same problem. To my knowledge. no axle blanks are avaible to have new axles made. I had a 4X4 later model rear end housing narrowed and new axles made.

Toms Differentials is the only company I know of offering replacements. However, they do require changing the spider gears to the 30 spline gears from a '65 or later 12 bolt. Not necessarily a bad thing, 30 spline gears/axles are stronger than the 17 spline oe.

I just changed the ratio of my rear end to 3.55 and had to replace both axles as the splines were chewed.
I looked everywhere and could not replacements or rebuilds.
Finally, after a lot of phone calls I found a used truck shop about an hour and half away who had several to choose from.
I bought two at $100 each they are perfect.
So, I would try the local scrap yards. It worked for me.

Kenny this subject was covered very recently on this forum. I posted a link to offset bearings that move the bearing contact surface over.

My computer skills are awful so I can't find my own post now. It's on here somewhere.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to try to find the offset bearings, if that doesn't work I will post on parts wanted for a set and keep calling local junkyards.

I have found that the offset brgs. dont fit these early models.
I have been known to be wrong before.
