on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 164 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 164 | I just bought a SBC and 2 speed power glide from a 63 Impala. I was told it was a 327. The numbers on the ft of the block are 10424D. Can someone give me the info on this engine?
Many Thanks, Chris | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | My source shows two 327 for 1963; 3789817 and 3791362 for 62-67 bothfor 62-67' and 3794460 for 62-64'. There are a couple of others but they all have383, 3865, and 390 as the first three numbers. I show nothing with a 10424 casting number. The casting number on the driver's side of the back of the block near the bellhousing bolt circle might be more useful. http://www.yearone.com/updatedsinglepages/Id_info/gm_engine_id/gmidimages/impala63.jpgEdit: If, indeed, the engine is a 1963 model, the suffix letter indicates it was a 283 2-barrel engine. 283: 3 7/8" bore, 3" stroke.
327: 4" bore 3 1/4" stroke Jerry
