The originals on the truck were 1/4 (I think) and would there be any issues with going down in size? Thanks.

Why not just use the right size tubing to start with? My FLAPS has several different diameters and lengths of pre-made steel lines, including the correct size which I believe is 5/16". I've made fuel lines with them for years. I doubt if the 3/16" line would carry enough fuel volume for full-throttle operation.

I sent my wife with a sample of the fuel line that was on the truck and had her stop at our FLAPS and came home with the 3/16. I will have her exchange it on her way home from work tomorrow.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,219 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,219 | NAPA sells a greenish grey fuel/brake line that is easily bent with your hands and is pretty much kink free. It works really good for this if you don't have a tubing bender.

It also works well for the across-the-block oil line through the water jacket on the splash oiler engines.

The coating needs to be removed from the area clamped in the flaring tool otherwise it slips and that coating clogs the grooves in the tool. All of this I just learned last week.Trust me there is nothing more frustrating than a perfectly bent line cut to the perfect length and you cant get it to flare properly :mad:
