I have a Carter WA-1 carb that I found in my Dad's basement. I have an idea what it's off of but I'm not sure. Anyone out there have any ideas what this fits(quite a few vehicles I'm sure) or where I could ind out? It's a nice carb and I'm sure someone could use it.

Is there any nimbers on it. And do you have a photo of it. Thanks

Carter offered the WA-1 413 S as a universal carb, fits many vehicles / brands. The early Carter had the cast iron throttle body up to the air horn. The WA-1 413 S had just the cast iron throttle body. Intake early manifolds of the 216's had a stud mounting bolt pattern that would mount a Carter or Rochester. The 235's of the 50's Chevrolet installed Rochester's with a different throttle body mount pattern. This 'wrench' finds the early Carter's complicated. Mine sits on my Items Of Utility shelf. Someone may have use for it. I selected the Rochester.

KWF, I have some Motors Manuals from the '30s and '40s. Can you email me a picture and I will compare it. There were changes in the choke butterfly and the shape and number of screws in the float bowl cover. Pictures of that would be most useful.

Thanks for the replies. My dad had a 1937 Pontiac and it may have been my parents first car. I think the carb may be off of that car. He also had a 1940 Plymouth. I thought it was a possibilty also. The base looks to be cast iron with the numbers 1-194 on one side and a 5 on the other side. I do have pictures but can't post them. If someone emails me at [email protected], I'll email them to you.
