If there is no petcock it may have a pipe plug in it or part of the petcock is broke off. You can remove the plug & put in a petcock. If someone has soldered over it you will need to pull the lower hose loose. Have a large pan. It will get messy. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. My radiator is also a Harrison.

Just have to drop the hose SLOWLy | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 60 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 60 | Thanks, everybody for your responses. I found the draincock,on my 51,I couldn't see the forest for the trees. It was exactly where,Forty9 said his was located. The transmission cooler was obstructing the view, but not where I couldn't get to it.Drained the radiator, and got my temp sending unit installed. Thanks again. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | if you still have it drained it would be worth while to open the drain cock on the side of the block and drain it. remove the drain cock from the block and rod and flush out all the crap that's been accumilating in there for years. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 60 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 60 | 51 ashton,Thanks,I don't have the original 6cyl engine.I have a 350 small block in there now. The original temp sending unit, was really strechted out to reach, the one on the 8cyl location,so I had to get one for a 8cyl. You are right about the flushing out.The engine I have in there now had just been rebuilt. Thanks | | |
