I have an original 65 steering wheel which is cracked,where the arms attach to the round wheel part.Is it repairable?If it isn't,how difficult is it to find a replacement?

I need to repair mine also. You can buy new ones (probably refurbished) from LMC and some of the other suppliers. I've been thinking of using this on mine:

I used an epoxy meant for plastic bumpers, the common brand here is Dynatron part #660.

I've used JB weld to make the same type of repair. Let it flow into the crack then wrap the repair with masking tape to hold the mixture in place. Let it dry then file, sand and paint. Couldn't tell it was cracked.

I am getting ready to tackle the steering whell for my GMC 860 and was just wondering what you all used for paint. I talked to one gentleman who said he painted his with a two part polyurethane paint on his. It looked factory! I did a search on the web and see painted for boats that are 2 part poly. Does anyone here have any experience with this paint?

That steering wheel is beautiful! I'll have to ask my painter about that.

I used regular acrylic enamel w/hardener on mine, worked well. I added a small amount of flex additive.
