My speedometer and odometer have gone dead. I unscrewed the cable at the side it goes into the transmission. The cable inside pulls out easily which leads me to think it broke somewhere inside. I can't remember if the inner cable used to be loose like this or not. Is this a sign the cable snapped?

I think if it spins or come out easily it would be broken. when i put a new cable in my truck i couldn't spin the cable on either end. I could be wrong, and i'm sure somebody else who knows for sure will be able to tell you.

Finish pulling your cable out of the housing. If the other end isnt square shaped, its broken,,then youll have to go under the dash to get the other end out. Buy a universal speedo cable and cut to fit.
