Hi fellow Bolters. Anyone installed the cardboard kick panels in their truck? Mine
don't look like they would fit without some trimming and there is a 3/4" gap at the bottom. Or are you supposed to trim them? These are JC #UP2471. Anybody have a pic of them correctly installed? Thanks!

i had to make one out of a box one time for mine i just used the pass. side as a template and painted it cab colors and couldnt tell the difference. then i got abs kick panels with speaker pods from an outfit called "rod doors" in your neck of the woods. they fit like a glove. i remember him saying there was a difference between 40 and later but i can confirm that. if there a difference then maybe there is a universal set to fit both with some trimming required ???

there should be no gap on the bottom. the panel sits on the floor/firewall and behind the lip on the floor. slight trimming in the form of a corner notch out where the top of the panel meets the dash and front of the door jamb.

Thanks, Ashton. No gap at bottom will require modification. Guess I'll make a cardboard template and compare it to the new ones and go from there.

here a look a my abs panel. it sits on the fforewall and the bottom and the notchout is at the top, you cant see it but its there

AH-HA! Looks like there is a nice metal strip that holds the door edge in place. I don't have those; may be able to fab some at a friend's place with his shear and brake. A picture sure helps.
I just added a photo of the floor mat I installed today, and you can see the kick panels just temporarily in place. Thanks!
