CHAPTER 1 - The Acquisition

I guess once you become a Stovebolter you just can't get it out of your blood! I'm about 90% finished with my 1951 5-Window Chevy Truck resto-mod so I thought it was time to get started on the next project. While visiting this year's Pumpkin Run in Ohio, I saw alot of very nice cars and trucks. One of the coolest in my eyes was a slammed 48-54 Chevrolet Panel truck. So... when I started looking around for a new "project" vehicle, I ran across a 1938 Chevrolet Panel truck, located about 45 miles from my home. The owner and I settled on a price and the rest is recent history.

I'll be submitted updates and will be uploading new pictures as well as we begin the disassembly.

It appears to be an ambitious project but it will make one neat looking ride. Please keep us posted.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks for all the pics. I saw some details in there that illuminated some construction detail questions that I had about my '38 truck.

Nice Panel you got there.
I would like to have one some day when I grow up.
Keep us posted.

So sorry I missed your post. Just perusing today and noticed your post and that I had not replied. Project is coming along very nicely.. need to send in an update for my gallery page. I've almost completed the frame work. Have installed IFS on front end and parallel 4 link in rear with S10 rear end and air bags all the way around. Rebuilt a 1964 283 backed with a 700 R4 transmission. Didn't have any rear doors so I have a friend helping me to create a new rear door. Talk to you soon!

In terms of tips, you'll have to first decide which route you want to take in terms of whether you want to restore more to original or customize. It's not a quick process so break the work up into manageable chunks and you'll be able to continually make progress. If you have any other questions, let me know. I'd be glad to assist.
