Hi all... Grant here. Bad news today... found out the 12 bolt 3:73 posi that I was planning on overhauling for my 59 Apache 1/2 ton is trashed beyond practical use. So now I am considering options. What is available to put into the original 3rd member rear end as far as ratios with a posi unit? I am mostly interested in 3:73 or 3:42. Thanks.

Am I suppose to guess you are talking about a 59 1/2 ton?

If yes, you are limited to 3.90:1, or 3.38:1. As far as I know there is no Posi options available for the HO33 rear.

The only Posi unit for that rear was the Eaton Positraction, only manufactured from '60-'62/early '63. Nothing in the aftermarket exept for a Miller or Lincoln Locker wink.
