My question is. After everything is set, do you run a bolt through the end cap and pipe? Or do you weld around. thanks for your input.

If you're sure the position is right, weld it. If you think the angle of the trans output shaft might have to change, drill and bolt until you're sure the setup is good. How about removal later in case you need a transmission change- - - - -can you get it back out if the pieces are welded together?

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,362 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,362 | I think welding cross members on a frame is a no no. For a fancy race car, or a show car its fine. But there is a reason that GM riveted those frames. And there is a reason KW and Peterbuilt bolt them together. Welding something the welded stucture needs to be properly reinforced to minumize stress that will crack and fatique the welded area, constant flexing will do that. In other words if your going to weld it, then it needs to be designed differently than the factory did it. I think bolting with grade 8 or higher is the best option.
